What follows is a model proposal to add big savings to your company's bottom line over the life of your plant: To permanently remove insulating chemical film, scale, bio-fouling... to bare metal and theoretical cleanliness. Furthermore, with HYDROLATOR's cleaning action and "wetter" water (no surface tension) you'll get better heat transfer even if your condenser is clean, or you don't pay !! In addition we will cure water related fouling and corrosion problems and stop the use of hazardous and expensive chemicals throughout your plant. The program, to install HYDROLATOR equipment on all water side systems can be funded entirely out of chemical savings. Present corrosion and production-robbing fouling now treated ineffectively by chemicals can be eliminated, and you'll be helping our environment!!
INDUSTRY BACKGROUND/PROBLEMS
Through-out industry, corrosion, scale and sedimentary fouling keep maintenance costs high. EPRI, ( Electric Power Research Institute) reports industry corrosion damage consumes 40% of typical plant maintenance budget. ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning! Engineers) reports that a " coating of scale in heat exchangers results in 25% loss of energy, a ¼" coating loses 40% Even a thin bio/scale film can cost production dollars. Fouling causes increased pumping energy loss which cost is almost never tracked by operators. In-house labor/material costs to clean-up, repair and replace are considered a necessary cost of doing business. Why? Because users expect and plan for a certain level of corrosion and fouling maintenance !! Even plant piping is designed with a built-in "Fouling Factor." It all evolves from chemical treatment experience. The bottom line is that Chemical Treatment is limited because it cannot keep systems clean and corrosion controlled simultaneously ! This is important: If corrosion control is foremost, then inhibitor chemicals cause scaling. If de-scaling is the primary concern, the dispersant used causes corrosion! So far, the chemical industry has been unable to solve this "catch 22"!! Furthermore, the window of optimum performance for chemical treatment experience is extremely limited: (a) requires 7-9 ph range, (b) cannot control poor water quality or upsets (c) customer systems cannot tolerate chemical overfeed, underfeed or loss of feed without damage.
THE HYDROLATOR SOLUTION
The solution offered here is actually an extension of work which started in 1986 at Virginia Power Possum Point then later at other plants; and June 21, 1993 at Bethlehem Steel's Sparrows Point "L" Furnace and later the Sinter Plant scrubbers. The same solution is offered here for your plant. Custom designed HYDROLATOR systems can be installed quickly and easily to pipe exterior or at pump inserts or at exit flumes from cooling towers. No power is required to operate the HYDROLATOR system and plant operation is not interrupted. By this means, the plant cooling water can be converted from hazardous chemical dependance to an environmentally safe, natural and permanent Electric water treatment program. Your in-house permanent treatment program is funded out of chemical savings.
HOW HYDROLATOR WORKS
In 1832, Michael Faraday discovered that water flowing through a magnetic field produced a positive (+) electro-static charge with respect to ground (-) in the water. Two corrosion engineers confirmed this phenomenon in 1986 by testing HYDROLATOR against an Induced Current Cathodic Protection System (ICCPS) at Fairfax County Water Authority water purification plant in Lorton, Virginia (Report available). Electrical measurements of the ICCPS vs. HYDROLATOR Systems bulk water in the control/test clarifiers proved identical, thus confirming Michael Faraday's experiment and HYDROLATOR's theory of Electric Water Treatment! As a result, corrosion is stopped and the weak attractive electrical forces of scale formation are neutralized. Old scale dissolves and systems remain clean, permanently!
FREE DEMONSTRATION AND EVALUATION
A site- survey will be conducted on our visit. You will receive a detailed plan and proposal including any minor costs to you to fit our system(s) to your plant. ( usually not more than one month's chemicals costs) A HYDROLATOR system will be designed specifically to your plant's needs. The installation will take only a few hours with help. Allow days to weeks for first indications and positive trend data; up to a year to final cleanliness and passivation of all surfaces. If monitoring for corrosion, expect higher readings in the early clean-up period due to interaction of chemical residue with HYDROLATOR's Electric charge, which actually drives corrosion rates up for a short duration. Test data show overall effects are negligible for plant surfaces however, since the only short-term attack is on coupon, probes and/or test pipe surfaces that are isolated from electrical ground. Be prepared to deal with de-scaled material as it is produced. We will work with you on techniques for blow-down sample collection and/or test patch cleaning before and during our demonstration to evaluate progress
SHARED-SAVINGS PROGRAM
Shared-Savings is not new. Usually, a contractor/inventor will offer his cost reduction technology to a customer who shares the savings. The inventor maintains ownership and responsibility for the installation. We offer a purchase plan for proprietary designed/built systems. It works like this: recoverable chemical costs and maintenance are used as the funding for your use of a HYDROLATOR system. By re-assigning this budget to HYDROLATOR, it becomes your in-house funding to participate in our shared savings program. No capital budget is required under this plan, but cash buy-out option is available.
After a successful demonstration (by your criteria), you begin to make payments to HYDROLATOR. Charges start on installation date and cut-off of dispersants and corrosion inhibitor. You'll still need full biocide feed during clean-up, but now you can switch to cheap bleach during clean-up and very little of that in years to come since HYDROLATOR's wetting and cleaning action removes bio-food, allows chlorine to penetrate cell walls and prevents colonization and accumulation on surfaces.
WHY NOT TEST THIS VALUABLE TECHNOLOGY?
You can test HYDROLATOR easily, without any risk to your plant operation; except for crud burst watch where de-scaled material may need to be blown down and removed. Clean-up usually takes weeks to months depending on the extent and type of scale present. You will know within a few weeks because in many cases, visual inspection, flow rate, pressure and temperature data will show a clear trend toward a cleaner system which trend is never reversible! We're available to help you through this demonstration period. For corrosion, you can use coupons, but grounded electronic monitoring is preferred. De-scaling can be monitored by electronic means or you can scrape a test patch somewhere in the system and monitor that. We'll advise you on these areas as well.
PERFORMANCE/EQUIPMENT WARRANTEE
HYDROLATOR offers this exclusive guarantee: HYDROLATOR Technology and equipment must perform to your satisfaction permanently or you are not obliged to pay for the installation. This warrantee extends to the operating life of your plant! You may cancel anytime during the first year, but all monies paid in are retained by HYDROLATOR as rental income.
This warranty extends to cover repair and/or replacement of any and all magnetic blocks, the racks they are mounted in and mountings repair and/or replacement to maintain proper function of the system. This warranty includes corrosion and fouling control for the life of the plant!
